Have Your Say…

Well, the time has come. That fateful day. Survey day.

Today, you’re going to post your feedback on the GNE. It’s just 10 questions long, and I think you’ll enjoy seeing everyone’s responses compiled (in other words, participate and increase the relevancy of the feedback ;-)!).

To enter your responses, visit:
http://designdoodles.com/gnejournal/?page_id=36

Also, if you have thoughts on the survey itself, you can leave them at the bottom of this post, or the survey page.

I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say!

All my best,

Jes

P.S. This isn’t quite the last time you’ll be hearing from me–after all, I promised you a report on the results! So, hop over, complete the survey, and as soon as I have everything compiled, I’ll send you the official report.

Don’t put it off. Have your say at:
http://designdoodles.com/gnejournal/?page_id=36

Remember, if you’re tempted *not* to participate, or to wait until you have more time, *your* responses are precisely the ones I most need. So, please, make just a bit of space in your schedule to complete this for me. Thank you :-).

Sunny, Sunny Days Ahead

It’s a gorgeous Saturday afternoon here–sunny, slightly breezy, and ever-so-slightly almost-cold. Izzy and I walked to the mailbox a few blocks away (to mail something to those of you in the ‘8 Utterly Unsexy Keys to Astounding List Growth’ program–the envelopes were too big for my home mailbox).I hope it’s a similarly wonderful day for you, whatever time of day it may be when you’re reading this.

There’s a certain sort of satisfaction from having spent three full days trying to complete something and finally having it done and mailed. And there’s a certain sort of satisfaction that comes from having enjoyed a bit of a walk in beautiful weather.

And today, I smugly savor both. Will you join me? Post and tell me what you’re finding satisfaction in today.

All my best,

Jes

And the moral of the story is…

I’ve never liked the expression, “You can’t please all of the people all of the time.”

It seems so pessimistic to me. Because, after all, if I put my focus on being entertaining enough, informative enough, and funny enough–all at the same time–clearly, there’s no good reason why everyone *wouldn’t* be pleased…

Right?

And yet, as the GNE starts to wind down (one more “official” email; next week, you’ll be asked to complete a survey), that’s the moral.

You can’t please all of the people all of the time.

Some people like long lines of text. Some like short lines.

Some people like plain text. Some like HTML.

Some like personality. Others, not so much.

And, what’s more, everyone has such solid, logical reasons to support their preferences.

So, today, I ask you: In what ways are *you* trying to please all the people all the time? In what ways are you absolutely convinced that if you were just more _______ [funny, smart, etc, etc], your readers would all be pleased with what you’ve created?

Leave a comment and let me know.

All my best,

Jes
